Nosferatu Pix 2007

After the slow year we had in 2006, I’m pleased that 2007 was a much more successful year for movies. I loved the 2006 movie “The Children of Men”, but the less I ponder over that year’s movies the better.

The first film that I saw and liked in 2007 was “Amazing Grace”, the movie about William Wilberforce. I was still reeling from 2006 and I thought to myself, “Here’s at least good movie for 2007. I’d better make a note of it, there might not be any more.” There were more, but I hope the film industry hasn’t shot its bolt and left us nothing for 2008.

I don’t think any of us saw a film better than “No Country for Old Men” this year. However, I did have a movie experience that topped it. The evening that we saw Guy Maddin’s “Brand Upon the Brain!” at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, the movie featured live narration by Udo Kier, live foley artists and a live orchestra. At one point Udo Kier went nearly haywire with his groaning and crying out. I’ll never forget it.

Unfortunately, I’ll also never forget following the ambulance that carried Nicole away from the New Beverly Theater after “Grindhouse”. Such an experience would be better suited to the film year of 2006, or, better yet, never at all.

Something that I was pleased and surprised about this year was how little struggling it took for me to see so many films that I wanted to. Turns out there were eight movies that I wanted to see and didn’t manage to. That’s about average for me, roughly the usual number. What was unusual was how difficult and exhausting this year has been. Hard to believe I didn’t miss more movies, but here are the ones I hoped to but didn’t manage to see:
30 Days of Night
Control
Elizabeth: The Golden Age
Juno
Resident Evil: Extinction
The Savages
There Will Be Blood
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story
In fact the “Elizabeth: The Golden Age” DVD is sitting behind me, I just don’t have the energy to stay up late to watch it before posting this. But I’m looking forward to it. In the midst of the challenges of 2007 I continually insisted “…but there’s a good time coming.” As for movies, this is it.

With out seeing the movie "GrindHouse" (on MY list)
Seems appropriate Nicole left in ambulance.
BUT I am shocked!! to hear
How is she??
How fitting of an exit to make from any movie, actually.
Very Dramatic.
